 Breakdancing
Battle
The Breakdancing Battle will be a 3 on 3 competition featuring the world’s
best b-boys and b-girls. The battle will be judged by Rocksteady’s
Mr. Wiggles—easily the most respected and revered popper in the
history of the artform. This prize package, combined with a featurette
of the winners on Fox Sports Net, will draw renowned competitors who are
guaranteed to blow audiences away.
 Streetnastics
Competition
Breakdancers are essentially urban acrobats. This exhibition will allow
b-boys to wow the crowd with their innovative flips and twists. This event
will isolate the bboy moves that crossover the best, and provide a forum
for these urban acrobats to go off in a slightly different format. Essentially,
this is the “vert” of breakdancing.
Popping Competition
Guys love the testosterone-enhanced nature of breakdancing. The vicious
competition and amazing feats of athleticism are well-suited for male
audiences. Women, however seem to find popping particularly fascinating.
The rhythmic movements and flow of the dancers are received well by female
audiences (think Elvis Presley and Ricky Martin). Mr. Wiggles will lend
his expertise to judge this event as well.
Deejay Battle
The Deejay Battle will be a Head-to-Head style battle where DMC and ITF
circuit deejays will face off against one another. In the past, The Yard
has provided DMC-style battles where each deejay is given 4 minutes to
wow the crowd. In the head-to-head style, their routines will be shorter,
but they will be given opportunities to retaliate gainst
the competition. Audiences are guaranteed to enjoy this more aggressive
format.
 Graffiti
Contest
The best graffiti artists will be given paint and a 40’ wall to
bomb. Audiences will then be able to see unique styles and colors spring
to life in vivid graffiti murals. True to Hip-Hop culture, this event
will be participatory as the audiences can then vote on which piece should
win.
